The A4 apartment block, designed by Martin Rudiš in 2000, was the second such building in the new residential area U Nemocnice. The corner building, which marks the border of the north-east tip of the grounds was also designed by the Rudiš-Rudiš architekti design studio and links up with the pre-existing A1 block built in 1997 (06-1143), both in floor plan (from the east, the A4 block is attached to the northernmost section of the A1 block), as well as in its architectonic concept.
With the intention of creating one organic unit out of both buildings, the designers repeated such features as the continuous strips of windows, grey-white rendering and the fenced front garden theme. However, they did not repeat the segmented roof shape, employing a flat roof instead, and as a new feature they added balcony-style walkways with mesh screens to the northern facade.
The wings of the building flank a low building containing garages under one common, utilitarian roof which provides space for the aforementioned front gardens, as well as for a communal playground.
The block contains more than thirty flats of varying sizes and layouts including maisonettes.
