Historical centre
The trail through the historically most treasured localities of the town – from the town square, through its immediate neighbourhood, up to the chateau hill - shows how, throughout the 20th and 21st century, the approach to modern architectonic additions to the heart of the heritage protected reservation has changed, regardless of whether such changes concern new buildings, reconstructed historical buildings or alterations to public spaces. With over thirty sites, the trail demonstrates that modern contemporary architecture not only has its place within the historical environment but that it can enhance and advance it. Great attention is also paid to artwork within the public spaces as well as to the complex restoration of icons of cultural heritage.
